Worship: Dress Code in God’s Kingdom

Matthew 22:1-14; Philippians 4:1-9 | Some may recall an era when going to church meant “dressing the part.” On the whole, expectations of dress (not only in the church, but across society) have relaxed. But then what do we make of Jesus’ parable when a guy is cast out of a banquet because of what he’s wearing?! On the surface, this doesn’t seem to align with Jesus’ portrait of the Kingdom of God. But as we dig deeper into the parable, we find that though this guy accepted the invitation to the party, perhaps he isn’t fully participating in the celebration. So, this weekend, as once again we are invited to the banquet of our King, join us as we consider what it means for us to not only “show up” to God’s party, but to fully participate as representatives of his Kingdom.

Sunday, October 11, 2026, Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost
