Bibles Distributed
We had the privilege of entrusting God’s Word into the hands of three of our youth this weekend: Josie, Amelia, and Holden! Kelsey and Maddie will also be receiving Bibles at a time that works for their families. Blessings, youth, as you encounter the story of God’s love for you and for the world!

Blessing Sunday this Coming Weekend!
Sunday, September 14
After uplifting how we are participants in God’s Work through our hands this past weekend, we’re extending the blessing to another weekend!
Bring your backpacks (and bags!) to worship
It’s not just students who carry bags with them, it’s all of us! Most often, these bags reflect our daily lived vocation – the way we live out being a disciple on a day to day basis. So bring your bag to worship for a blessing, as we pray over our bags (and each other!) before being sent back out in mission
Bring last minute food donations and financial donations for MCSA
Last weekend we spear-headed a pointed drive for MCSA Food Pantry, including: canned soups, fruits, and proteins (fish, chicken, beef, beans), pasta, and hygiene products (soaps, toothpaste and brushes, paper products). Keep bringing ’em in and we’ll bless these donations toward the end of worship.
Not able to make it to the store? Or, want to give more? Offer a financial donation in the green bucket. $550 provides two days of food and supplies for programming, and $1500 covers one night of emergency shelter and one night of domestic violence shelter services. Let’s challenge ourselves to help fund one of these programs as a congregation!
Sanctuary Youth Group
Sunday, September 21 – Kick Off
6:00 – 7:30 pm
As an extension of Christian Day Camp, we’re excited to jump start (and host!) an ecumenical Youth Group for middle schoolers and high schoolers (grades 6-12)! Our first night will be Sun, Sept 21 and then we’ll meet every first and third Sunday of the month. Join us on night 1 for bonfire, smores and tons of games! No RSVP needed for the first night. After our first few nights, we’ll ask for basic participant forms. Questions? Talk to Pastor Aleese.
Muscatine CROP Hunger Walk & Applebee’s Fundraiser
SOTC will be participating in the Muscatine CROP Walk to raise funds for those with food insecurities. Everyone is invited to take part-whether by walking, sponsoring a walker, eating at Applebee’s, or helping spread the word. Donations may be given here.
Tuesday, September 23 – All Day
Join us at Applebee’s from 11:00 am – 11:00 pm and 25% of your meal price will be dontated to the Muscatine CROP Walk. A flyer found here or picked up at SOTC must be presented for meal to qualify.
Sunday, October 5 @ 2:00 pm @ Muscatine Riverfront
Walk with us! Check in begins at 1:30 pm at the shelter near the Pearl City Station, with the Muscatine Youth Choir signing prior to the start of the walk at 2:00 pm. Walk however far you are comfortable with and grab a treat when finished.
Laundry Love Sock and Soap Drive
Start bringing donations Sunday, October 5
In October, we’re partnering with Laundry Love (a ministry that offers free and reduced laundry services) to collect socks and materials to make laundry soap. Laundry soap will likely be made as a part of an upcoming Family Faith Night (more details soon!)
Socks must be new. Items needed for laundry soap are:
- Fels Naptha soap bars
- Washing soda
- Borax
- Oxi-clean powder
